HISTORY
The store was originally opened by Michael Katzenberg in 1973 at 100 Main Street where it lived happily until the flood of 1992.  At that time we moved across the street to the present location. The name comes from a small pond on a remote part of Mt. Mansfield in Stowe that is no longer accessible to hikers. In 2006, the owners of Montpelier's Rivendell Books, Claire Benedict and Robert Kasow (pictured above), purchased the business from Katzenberg.  Bear Pond merged with Rivendell Books in 2015 and began offering used books at that time.
